Die Nordischen Filmtage Lübeck wurden 1956 vom Lübecker Filmclub zum ersten Mal veranstaltet und zählen zu den traditionsreichsten Filmfestivals weltweit. Sie sind das einzige Festival in Deutschland und neben dem später entstandenen Festival du cinéma nordique im französischen Rouen das einzige in Europa, das sich ganz auf die Präsentation von Filmen aus dem Norden und dem Nordosten des Kontinents spezialisiert hat.
