Le festival international du cinéma expérimental de Knokke-le-Zoute, créé en 1949 par Jacques Ledoux en Belgique, est, historiquement, le premier festival international consacré au cinéma expérimental ; il est d'abord une section du Festival mondial du film et des beaux-arts de Bruxelles avant d'acquérir son autonomie en 1958.
